TALLAHASSEE, FLA. (WTXL) - Local veterans are partnering up to teach students the importance of being patriotic not just on Veterans day, but everyday.
With the help of the Leon County School administration, Veteran Events in Tallahassee has put together a curriculum to help educate students on basic patriotism protocols.
Many local veterans feel that younger people have never been taught some of the American traditions that the baby boomer generation grew up on. The Patriotism Educational program offers teachers a one week curriculum that includes flag etiquette, protocols for singing the national anthem, and more. The program is designed for 3rd, 5th, and 8th grade.
Veteran events in Tallahassee expect the program to be in Leon County schools by this coming spring, following F-CAT testing.
