The Birmingham Police Department confirms a person exhibiting Ebola-like symptoms is being treated at UAB Hospital Tuesday night, according to ABC 33/40.
Statement from Birmingham police via ABC 33/40:
"The Birmingham Police Department reports that Birmingham Fire and Rescue requested assistance in quarantining a residence at 1612 17th Street S.W. Currently the block has been closed to any traffic. There appears to be no danger to the public.
"The quarantine resulted from a possible EBOLA patient at U.A.B. hospital. The EMA and CDC have been advised of the situation.
"This is an ongoing situation and any updates will be forwarded as they develop. If there are any questions regarding the patient or UAB Hospital, please contact them directly."
