TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A special program took place in the community Thursday.

Opportunity Tallahassee is an annual, day-long gathering.

Participants get an overview of the city, traveling around town to learn about the social, economic and educational structures that help Tallahassee thrive.

Some are long time residents who want to learn more about the city they live in and how to engage effectively with the community. Through the program, Tallahassee processionals and executives gain access to resources and contacts in a wide variety of fields.

Attendees at Opportunity Tallahassee say they were looking for a way to participate and see new things.

Thursday's stops: Frenchtown Heritage Hub, Cascades Park, college town and many more.

Community leaders believe citizen involvement and connecting with like-minded people can solve some of problems within Tallahassee. The theme for this year: the future of Tallahassee and what that means in different industries.
