WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Troopers say a parking break failure caused a school bus full of elementary students to crash into a light pole outside Crawfordville Elementary Thursday morning.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, at about 8:15 a.m. Thursday, a school bus was parked at the loading/unloading zone at Crawfordville Elementary School. The bus was properly parked with the parking brake set.
FHP said the bus driver was attending to students on the bus when the parking brake failed, causing the bus to roll backwards.
FHP stated the bus rolled 75 feet before hitting a light pole.
There were 45 students on the bus at the time and one possible injury has been reported.
The driver of the bus was not injured.
