Mayo, Fla. (WTXL) - One Florida boy's miraculous steps and bovine motivation are going viral.

For Luke Adams, what started as a cold in infancy turned into unexplained partial paralysis. His mother, Kimberly Adams, says,"It destroyed his spinal cord from C1 to C7 leaving him basically lifeless."

Luke saw family members like his big brother Blake participating in their tradition of showing steer.  Luke wanted to participate, but couldn't due to his condition. His family exhausted all of the insurance options, then took Luke to the country of Panama for Stem Cell Treatments.

"If I hadn't have gone to Panama, I wouldn't be where I am today," said Luke.

Luke has completed more than four hundred treatment sessions. In good faith, his family bought a steer for Luke, hoping he'd one day be able to participate in the family tradition. He even got to name the animal: Wayland.

Video of Luke taking hard-won steps to show his reserve Grand Championship steer has since gone viral, and he's an inspiration to his local community.

At an recent auction, local businesses raised more than $17,000 for Wayland and Luke. The family plans to use the money to fund Luke's next STEM treatment.
