LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - More than 100 people gathered Wednesday to learn more about the proposed Children's Services Council.
Leon County Commissioners are still deciding if they want to put the measure on the November ballot.
If placed on the ballot and approved, the Leon County Children's Services Council gets the power to distribute tax revenue to maintain services needed for the welfare of children in the county.
Wednesday's panel discussion was aimed at answering questions and addressing concerns from citizens.
Four panelists from different backgrounds offered differing opinions about the CSC.
Participants also expressed different feelings about the proposed council.
"Having worked at one of the eight Children's Services Councils for 13 years of my career, I know that it's good for a city. It's good for families and for children. And it's good for taxpayers," said Cheryl Townsend. "It works because there's a direct return on investment for every dollar that is spent."
Leon County will hold another public hearing to discuss the matter June 19.
