PANACEA, FL (WTXL) - Two people were taken to the hospital after a fire in Panacea according to the Wakulla County Fire Department.
Members of the Panacea Volunteer Fire Department arrived at the scene of a kitchen fire to discover residents attempting to put the fire out themselves.
The fire took place on Lake Essay Dr. around 7 p.m. on Monday.
Fire fighters say they used a hose to stop the fire from spreading outside of the kitchen and into the remainder of the home.
The victims were provided oxygen and taken to be evaluated for smoke inhalation according to the fire department.
The fire department says the fire has made the home uninhabitable and that the American Red Cross has been called in to assist the family.
