TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - The record breaking numbers are in and to be exact --$8,232,347. That's how many merit-based scholarship dollars were offered to the Maclay graduating senior class.
The scholarship offers break a school scholarship record and are up over 25 percent from 2015.
Maclay seniors will be walked across the stage Friday night.
94 percent were admitted into college across 15 different states.
Dr. Scott Hampton, the Director of College Counseling at the school, says this is an incredible accomplishment: "When you demand that excellence and you set the bar high, students are going to try to achieve it and give it their best and more opportunities become available to them. So it's really the whole community that contributes this this senior class. All of that effort of everyone within this Maclay School community is what helped guide them through this process."
Dr. Hampton says this years success can be partly attributed to the schools implementation of a college advisor system, where students met with mentors on a regular basis.
