TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- The Tallahassee Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind (NFB) will be holding their annual "Out of Sight" car wash on April 27.
The NFB us a national organization that provides peer support, advocacy, programs, and events to those who are blind and visually impaired. The event will raise funds to assist local members attending the agency's state and national conferences. It will also go to sponsor local projects.
Jada Michael, treasurer of the Tallahassee Chapter, says that they chose a car wash fundraiser as an eye-catching concept. Though blind and visually impaired people may not be able to "see" in the traditional sense, they are able to use other senses to accomplish many tasks. The cars will be all be washed by the blind, but there will be seeing assistants on hand to point out any missed spots.
The car wash will be held on April 26, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at O'Reilly Auto Parts store on West Tennessee Street. Donations will be accepted.
