TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - You may know her from Twelve Years A Slave or Star Wars, but Monday, the family of Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong'o visited Florida A&M University to discuss the impact of cancer in Africa.

Her father, professor and Kenyan Senator Peter Nyong'o, and her mother Dorothy Nyong'o, are founders of the "Africa Cancer Foundation".

Monday, they addressed the FAMU community as a part of the "Global Cancer Inequities" series at the university's institute of public health.

During their visit, the Nyong'o's will also meet with FAMU administrators and faculty, discussed future opportunities to work together to combat cancer via research, education, and awareness.
