ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Orlando police detectives are searching for a baby who they believe was abandoned by her mother.

In a news release, police said officers responded to the Willow Bend Apartments in Orlando on Monday after someone reported finding placenta and after-birth in the parking lot.

Homicide detectives concluded that a full-term baby had been born but there was no sign of the baby.

Police dogs and handlers searched the neighborhood but had no luck.

Detectives have identified the mother and they say she admitted to giving birth to a baby girl.

Police officials aren't immediately releasing the mother's name or any other details about her.
