ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — A Florida man accused of triggering a car crash that killed a child was convicted of leaving the scene of an accident with death and injuries and drug charges.

An Orlando jury Monday night found 29-year-old Robert Corchado guilty on seven counts after deliberating for two hours. He will be sentenced in January.

Authorities say a Dodge Durango driven by Corchado rear-ended a Toyota Solara last spring. The impact propelled the Solara into the day care building, killing a 4-year-old girl and injuring more than a dozen others.

Earlier Monday, Corchado had testified he didn't realize the seriousness of the accident when he left the scene.

In addition to the accident-related charges, Corchado was convicted of heroin trafficking and possession of cocaine.
