CAPE CANAVERAL, FL (WTXL) - NASA is preparing for its first capsule launch since the Apollo program. It's newest spacecraft, Orion, will launch from Kennedy Space Center at 7:05 am EST Thursday December 4th. Orion will travel 36-hundred miles into deep space in order to make sure the spacecraft can withstand the pressures of space and the temperatures of 4-thousand degrees upon re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere. This first launch is unmanned and will only last 4 hours. If all goes well, Orion will have the ability to take humans deeper into space than ever before.
