UPDATE: (AP) - NASA scrubs launch of new Orion spacecraft due to wind, rocket valves; will try again Friday.
KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla. (WAAY) - NASA has called off the launch of Orion three times so far this morning, due to a variety of problems.
Wind gusts, a fuel valve problem and a boat that strayed into prohibited waters around the launch pad have kept the Delta IV Heavy rocket that carries Orion from launching.
The first launch attempt at 7:05 a.m. was aborted when a boat strayed into the water near the launchpad at Kennedy Space Center. Wind gusts also pushed the time back.
The second attempt just before 8 a.m. also was called off due to wind.
The countdown clock went under four minutes before the 8:26 a.m. launch was called off. That hold was caused when a fuel and drain valve on one of the Delta IV's boosters failed to close. Engineers are currently working on a solution.
