Organizers Invite Community to "Be the Match" and Join the National Marrow Registry

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - You could be the cure for someone with blood cancer. 

Orangetheory Fitness in Midtown is hosting an event where the community can sign up for a registry dedicated to helping people suffering from blood cancer and diseases get the marrow donation they need.

They said that over 14,000 patients who are in need of a marrow donation do not have a match within their families and turn to the national marrow registry to try and find a match.You could be the cure for someone with blood cancer.

That's why organizers are inviting you to fill out a simple application and get a swab to place you on the registry. 

Organizer said that if you're between the ages of 18 and 44, you're needed!

They will be signing up people to join the registry at Orangetheory from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Monday.

They said that over 70 different types of blood cancers and diseases can be cured with a bone marrow or a peripheral blood stem cell donation.
