TALLAHASSEE, FL. (WTXL)-- Jump Start 2 Success is helping local students head back to school by providing school supplies to dozens.
The annual supply drive is ten years in the making. Jumpstart school partnered with the City of Tallahassee, Leon County Schools, and Walmart to make the event happen.
Local volunteers also dedicated their time to personally handing out back packs, school supplies, haircuts, and gently used clothing Saturday.
Familiar faces could be seen at the event this year, such as Mayor Gillum who said he wanted to give out the supplies to take the burden off parents so they could focus on loving and pushing their children to be the best they can.
Organizers say the first year they held this event they gave out 500 backpacks, while this year they they gave out 5000.
