TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Tallahassee children will be taking home some cold weather gear Friday all thanks to a local foundation.
WTXL ABC 27's Jada Williams was live Friday morning to share information about a program by the Innovative Community Engagement Foundation, also known as ICE.
ICE is looking to bundle up about 100 students.
This is the third year that the team will hand out items like sweaters, jackets, hats, gloves and scarves to neighborhood children.
So far they have helped keep 300 children warm.
The ICE Foundation works to increase community engagement and enrich underprivileged communities and families.
Friday night, the organization is hosting Share the Warmth.
Children in the Springfield Community will not only come out to receive the winter wear, but also get the chance to relax and have some fun with food and games.
G.C. Murray II is the founder of the ICE Foundation.
"You can just see the pure joy of the students," Murray said. "A lot of them didn't expect to get anything from anybody. So they're super appreciative. They're always expecting toys and sometimes we can give them toys as well. They seem to be genuinely thankful when they receive things like the sweaters and the caps, especially if they have cool things on them like Black Panther and stuff like that."
It all starts Friday at 5:30 p.m. at the Springfield Community Center, which is on Joe Louis Street in Tallahassee.
