TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)--Operation Safe Neighborhoods begins Thursday night.
It's an effort to tackle crime and an opportunity to create face-to-face contact between police and community members.
This is year three of the initiative, and police say it's been a success.
Thursday's event is being at Freedom Church First Assembly of God from 6-8 p.m.
This year's theme is 'light up the neighborhood.'
"We'll be walking door-to-door," said Tallahassee Police Department Officer Dave Northway. "If we see a porch light out we're going to be offering our neighborhood residents an actual LED light bulb so that they can always light up their neighborhood and be vigilant be out in their community, and know what's happening around them."

June 8-Griffin Chapel Primitive Baptist
June 22-Friendship Primitive Baptist
July 6-Killearn United Methodist Church
