TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Two organizations come together to give more than 150 girls free dresses for their biggest high school night.

The City of Tallahassee's Palmer Munroe Teen Center partnered with Junior League of Tallahassee to collect around 1,500 dresses for Operation Prom.

The girls were able to try on and pick from a wide variety of dresses at no cost. They also took home free shoes and accessories.

"This is an opportunity to see probably more selection of dresses than they would see in a department store and they would pay for," said Amanda Wiggins with the Junior League of Tallahassee.

"I'm hoping the girls will come and feel good about themselves when they leave and again feel confident going into prom and have a good time with everything that they find here today, "said Candace Thompson from the Palmer Munroe Teen Center.

Operation Prom is an annual event for Palmer Munroe Teen Center and has been going on for the past 16 years.
