TALLAHASSEE, FL. (WTXL) - Florida's Secretary of State says, Governor Rick Scott has not asked his opinion on whether or not to veto legislation that would allow for online voter registration in the state.
Secretary of State Ken Detzner opposed the measure as it moved through the legislative process.
With the 2016 Presidential Election next year, Detzner says his agency will be too busy to implement the changes. He says he is concerned about meeting a hard deadline for the online-voting system.
Detzner says, if Scott does sign the Bill into law, his department will make sure the measure is implemented properly, to assure any potential security risks are addressed.
So far 24 states allow online voter registration.
