SUWANNEE COUNTY, FL (WTXL) - A one-year-old baby was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries, after he was hit by a car in Suwannee County Saturday.
Troopers say it happened just before noon near 177th Street and 14th Street.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the one-year-old was unattended, when he ran into the roadway in front of a pick-up truck.
FHP says the driver, 78-year-old Arthur Hopkins of Fernadina Beach, got out of the truck when he realized he hit something, and noticed the child under his vehicle.
The child was brought to Shands Live Oak Hospital, but was later airlifted to Shands Hospital in Gainesville.
Troopers tell us charges are pending.
