ATLANTA (AP) — Police say a person has died in a single-vehicle crash on an interstate in southeast Atlanta.
Atlanta Police officer Donald Hannah told local news media that the crash occurred around 7:40 a.m. Sunday. Hannah says the sport utility vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed before it went onto the shoulder and into the grass before striking a pole.
Hannah says the vehicle was taken to the medical examiner's office to remove the victim due to the damage. The name of the driver has not been released.
Several lanes were closed on Interstate 285 while authorities investigated the crash. The lanes have since been reopened.
