JEFFERSON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - The Florida Highway Patrol says a Monticello woman has been hospitalized in serious condition after she lost control of her hydroplaning car and crashed into a tree.
FHP says Esther Warrendorf, 44, was driving south on U.S. 19 (S.R. 57) during a rain storm when her car hydroplaned on the wet road. They say Warrendorf lost control of her car, causing it to traveling into a grass median.
The car then started spinning clockwise before hitting an oak tree on the east shoulder.
Warrendorf was transported by Jefferson EMS to Capital Regional Hospital.
Troopers say she has been charged with failure to use due car.
