THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - Thomasville Police are investigating a weekend shooting involving two juvenile boys.

Police say it happened in a home in the 300 block of East Monroe Street just after 8 p.m. Saturday.

Police say the victim is 12-year-old boy who was shot in the head by a 15-year-old family member.

The 12-year-old boy was taken to Archbold Memorial Hospital then transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital and is critical condition.

"It's still being investigated as an assault type of incident. As I said earlier we're still in the infant stages of the investigation. We're trying to outline the details of exactly what happened," said Maurice Holmes, Captain, Thomasville Police Department at a Sunday afternoon press conference.

Jamahni Williams says the 15-year-old charged, and the victim are his brothers.

Now, he simply hopes the victim will survive.

"You just got to pray to God and have faith," said Williams.

The 15-year-old boy is being held at the Regional Youth Detention Center.

He is facing three charges including, theft by receiving stolen property, firearm by a minor, and reckless conduct.

"It's heartbreaking any time you have a child going through something like this when you're exposed to it," explained Holmes, "Because, you know, you're talking about a 12-year-old. And I've done a lot of living since I was 12 and to think of the possibility of this child not being able to have that opportunity is disheartening."

The Thomasville Police Department is working with the Georgia Bureau of Investigations on this case.

This is a developing story, WALB will bring you the latest updates as they come in.
