One Dead, One in Custody in Adel Shooting

UPDATE, 10:46pm (WTXL) - Adel police say they have charged the victim's 14-year old half-brother with felony murder, aggravated assault, feticide, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of a firearm by a person under 18.

According to Captain Blake, police arrived around 6:25pm to the home, where they found the victim, now identified as 22-year old Kadijah Adkinson, shot in the chest. Police performed CPR and first aid until paramedics arrived. Adkinson was taken to Cook Medical Center, but was pronounced dead at around 6:50pm at the hospital.

Police confirm Adkinson was pregnant.

Captain Blake says witnesses heard the gunshot, but as of now, they don't have anyone who saw the shooting.

COOK CO., Ga. (WTXL) - A woman is dead after an early evening shooting in Adel, Georgia.

According to Captain Blake with the Adel Police Department, the shooting happened around 6:30pm Wednesday evening outside of a home on South Elm Street.

Capt. Blake says when they arrived, they found a female victim dead. Her name has not yet been released, but she was 22-years old and may have been pregnant, although there is no official confirmation.

Adel Police do have a male in custody who they believe is the shooter. They are currently interviewing him.
