GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - The Florida Highway Patrol reports that a Bristol man is dead and a Tallahassee man is in critical condition after a head-on crash.

They said that Jason Jones, 31, was going south on State Road 267 in the southbound lane on Wednesday afternoon around 12:15 p.m. At the same time, Paul Griffin, 33, was traveling the opposite way on SR 267 in the northbound lane.

For unknown reasons, Jones' car drove into the northbound lane and into the path of Griffin's car. Troopers said that Griffin was unable to avoid the collision, leading to a head-on crash.

Jones was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. Griffin was killed as a result of the crash.

Charges and a toxicology report are still pending.

The Florida Highway was assisted on-scene by Gadsden County Sheriff Office, Wetumpka Volunteer Fire Department, Quincy Fire Department, Gadsden County EMS, and Greensboro Volunteer Fire Department. Next-of-kin has been made.
