Officials urge emergency preparedness for 2013

THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WTXL)--Have you thought about your new year's resolutions yet?

Emergency leaders in Georgia are hoping you will make disaster preparedness one of them.

Emergency officials say you can build your own emergency supplies kit which includes a three day supply of food, water, a can opener, battery powered or weather radio, a flashlight and first aid kit.

The Thomas County Deputy EMA Director Lisa Griffis says you should have a plan in case you and your family get separated in a disaster.

"Do it as a family, so everyone is involved in it, everybody knows what to do," said Griffis. "Have a rendezvous point where everybody meets up even with severe weather have a rendezvous point."
