(WTXL) - School, city, county and state officials are doing whatever they can to prepare for what might happen as the time draws near for a speech by white nationalist Richard Spencer at the University of Florida.
Months of controversy have led up to Spencer's appearance, set for Thursday.
Everyone from city leaders to law enforcement are finishing last-minute preparations.
Gov. Rick Scott made a Declaration of Emergency in Alachua County for law-enforcement coordination at Sheriff Sadie Darnell's request.
Scott's order establishes a "cooperative and coordinated security plan" among state and local law enforcement agencies.
