FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. (AP) - Officials say a Fulton County police officer has lost his leg after crashing on his motorcycle.
The Fayette County Sheriff's Office tells news outlets that the officer had to have his leg amputated following Tuesday night's crash in Fayette County, just south of Atlanta.
Deputies say the officer was off-duty and riding his own motorcycle when he lost control of the bike and wrecked.
He was taken to the hospital where doctors performed surgery.
Officials have not identified the police officer, who they say is in stable condition.
The crash remains under investigation
