SHALIMAR, Fla. (AP) - Officials say they've arrested a man after he fired at deputies in two incidents on the Florida Panhandle.
The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office says the man first shot a deputy during a confrontation outside an attorney's office in Shalimar on Tuesday morning.
Then, officials say, he briefly barricaded himself at the Comfort Suites in nearby Niceville before exchanging gunfire with deputies. He was taken into custody just before 10:30 a.m. Central time.
He was then taken to a hospital. His name and condition weren't released.
Officials say the wounded deputy will undergo surgery. His name hasn't been released, either.
No other officers were injured.
It was unclear what prompted the shooting.
