DELAND, Fla. (AP) — Authorities have identified the body of a man found burned in the woods near DeLand.
Multiple news outlets report Volusia County deputies identified the man as 52-year-old Malcolm Rule on Sunday. His body was discovered Saturday afternoon.
Volusia County sheriff's spokesman Gary Davidson says a medical examiner will perform an autopsy Monday.
Davidson says the body of Rule was discovered at a patch of woods near an inn. He says people called 911 Saturday afternoon to report a small fire in the woods and a witness then found the body.
Davidson says investigators think the victim had started the fire.
