CEDARTOWN, Ga. (AP) — A 1-year-old has died after falling into a pond and drowning in Cedartown.
Polk County Coroner Tony Brazier tells local media that the toddler's family had a garden fish pond in their backyard, and Abigail Marie Wilson fell in Saturday evening. The parents attempted CPR and emergency responders attempted to resuscitate the child.
The girl was airlifted to Henrietta Egleston Hospital for Children in Atlanta, where she died Sunday morning.
Cedartown police haven't said whether any criminal charges will be filed.
