VALDOSTA, Ga., (WTXL) -- A man in Valdosta says he was stabbed by another man while walking with his wife through an apartment complex.

Officers arrived to the scene in 1700 block of Williams Street Monday.

That’s when they found 36 year old Sylvester McKenzie, who told them he had been assaulted.

According to the report, McKenzie says he took his wife inside after the man exchanged words with her, and then went back out to confront the suspect.

After a fight, the suspect stabbed McKenzie in his upper body, with what was believed to be a knife.

Lowndes EMS also responded to the scene, but McKenzie refused treatment.  The report says his injuries were believed to be non-life threatening.

Canine units tried to find the suspect who left the area.

Officers say this was not a random act, as the victim and suspect knew each other and had previous issues in the past.
