TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - Several Tallahassee Police Department officers and citizens were honored Tuesday by the department.

Chief Michael DeLeo presented the awards which included two medals of bravery and two lifesaving awards.

Officer Justin Rodgers was one of the police officers honored at the ceremony with a medal of bravery. In 2014, Rodgers saved a pregnant woman trapped in a vehicle that was swept by flood waters into a drainage ditch. He swam into the water and pulled her out before the vehicle was completely submerged.

Another officer honored at the ceremony was Lieutenant David Odom. Odom saved three children from a burning building in July of 2015. He was also given a medal of bravery for not hesitating to search the smoke filled building when he learned there may be children inside.

Lori Roberts, a Tallahassee resident, was given an award for police service because of the contact she made with the department during an incident where her friend didn't return from a boating trip. Roberts contacted the department and because of this, the Coast Guard was able to find the missing friend and tow the boat to safety.

Eight awards in total were handed out at the ceremony.
