TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - An investigation is underway after a person accuses a Tallahassee police officer of sexual assault during a traffic stop.
Vincent Crump was fired from the Tallahassee Police Department over the weekend.
TPD says the victim called dispatch to report of the alleged assault.
Chief Michael DeLeo explains what citizens should do if they are concerned about an officer's behavior.
"If someone has done something that is perceived as wrong, it may be that the officer didn't do a good enough job of explaining why they did something," he said. "It may be a miscommunication.
"So it's important to make sure that people understand why we did something or how the officer handled something and what the laws are. And in the case that an officer or employee did something that was inappropriate, then it's our responsibility to make sure that we address it and we're held accountable."
The officer is not facing charges at this time.
