COOK COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL) - The fate of the Cook County Hospital is up in the air and that has some folks concerned.
Just a few weeks ago hospital authorities announced the Cook County ER would be closing.
Friday, officials with Cook County Medical Center met with Hahira city officials to discuss the possibility of relocating the hospital there.
Folks with the Hahira Development authority say the city is growing and because of that, they believe it's an ideal spot to have the Cook Medical Center relocate to.
But Cook County leaders say they aren't throwing in the towel. They hope to keep the doors open right here.
They say the hospital is the centerpiece of the community and it is a place people can always depend on.
