WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama says he's confident a comprehensive immigration bill can pass Congress by the end of the summer.

The president says his prediction is contingent on a bipartisan Senate group unveiling draft legislation next month. He says he's optimistic that will happen, saying the remaining issues that must be worked out are "resolvable."

Obama has long said that if the Senate process fails, he'll put forward his own bill. But he says given the progress he's seeing on Capitol Hill, he doesn't think that step will be necessary.

The president spoke in interviews with the Spanish-language television networks Telemundo and Univision.
