TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - A crash on North Monroe Street on Saturday morning killed one driver and resulted in another driver in serious condition.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, just before 8am, a 1999 Volkswagen Passat, driven by 24-year-old Lavon Reese, was heading east on Talpeco Road towards Monroe Street.
Another driver, FHP says 27-year-old Ashli Harvey was driving her 2015 Chevy Malibu south on the inside lane of Monroe Street.
As Reese was trying to cross the southbound lanes so she could head north on the street, officers say she crossed into the path of Harvey's car. FHP says that's when the front of Harvey's car crashed into the left side of Reese's Volkswagen.
Officers say that both cars came to a final rest at a paved median.
The crashed killed Reese and left Harvey in serious condition, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
According to the crash report, it is unknown whether Reese was properly stopped or if she ran the stop sign at the intersection. The report also says that charges are pending and that whether the crash was alcohol related.
The Leon County Sheriff's Office, Tallahassee Police and the Tallahassee Fire Department assisted on the scene. FHP says the crash is still under investigation.
