GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) - A north Florida woman is dead after authorities say she rear-ended an Alachua County school bus.

The Florida Highway Patrol reports that a bus heading to Waldo Community School was stopped with red flashers activated and retractable stop sign displayed Thursday morning when 39-year-old Mersha N. Edwards crashed her SUV into it. Investigators say there were no skid marks, and it wasn't immediately clear what caused the crash.

No other injuries were reported.

A school spokeswoman told The Gainesville Sun (http://goo.gl/JyuO7p ) that a counselor met with students who may have been affected by the crash.
