HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (WTXL) - A ninth resident is dead nearly a week after the evacuation of a Florida nursing home that Hurricane Irma left without air conditioning.
The Hollywood Police Department says the 93-year-old unidentified resident died on Tuesday.
On September 12, three days after Irma hit, facility staff began calling 911 after realizing the nursing home had been without air conditioning for days.
Eight people died and 145 patients had to be moved out of the facility.
Authorities have launched a criminal investigation.
