TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The principal of Nims Middle School has returned to work following his arrest for drunken driving.
Kelvin Norton returned to the school Wednesday after being arrested over the weekend.
Leon County Schools spokesman Chris Petley said that Norton immediately told district officials about his arrest.
In a statement, Petley said:
"Over the past weekend we were informed of the arrest of Nims Principal.
Dr. Kelvin Norton immediately notified his superiors and was placed on administrative leave while the district could look into the case.
Dr. Norton returned to Nims campus on Wednesday morning where he was asked to inform his community in a way he deemed appropriate.
LCS will keep this review open until a final disposition is made in the case."
Norton has served as Nims' principal for two years. He was previously principal at Success Academy.
