LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - In Leon County, there was a shift in leadership, as Nick Maddox is named the new Leon County commission chair, in their board meeting Tuesday afternoon.
Former chair John Dailey is reflecting on his past year. He says he's proud of what the team has accomplished this year. These accomplishments he said, are all due to the strong bond between the commissioners.
Dailey commended their work with Hurricane Irma preparation, balancing the budget and proudly servicing the citizens of Leon County. And now he's proud to pass the torch along.
"Nick is a strong leader and Nick is going to do a great job. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Nick as a commissioner and as the vice chairman as well. He's going to do a great job," said Dailey. "He's going to run a great meeting. He's going to represent the county well, with negotiations from the state and federal governments. I'm proud to support him."
Nick Maddox has been with the Leon County commissioners since 2010. He served as vice chairman for the 2016 - 2017 term.
