NEW YORK (AP) — The NFL Players Association will appeal the indefinite suspension the league handed to Ray Rice last week.

Union spokesman George Atallah told The Associated Press the appeal is expected to be requested before tomorrow night's deadline.

Rice originally was suspended two games under the NFL's personal conduct policy for striking his then-fiancee in a hotel elevator, but the ban was increased when videotape of that incident was made public.
