NFL star holding annual Football and Cheer Camp July 12

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- NFL star and local celebrity Ernie Sims will be giving back to his hometown community with the sixth annual Ernie Sims Youth Football and Cheer Clinic on Friday, July 12.

Members of Sims' Big Hits Foundation and the  City of Tallahassee Parks, Recreation & Neighborhood Affairs department will host the event, which is free to registered children from ages 7-16.

Attending kids can expect to learn tips on how to improve their football skills and cheerleading abilities from Sims and other participants. There will also be opportunities to for children to learn character skills, like dedication and perseverance, which can help in every aspect of their lives.

The culmination of the day-long camp will be a celebrity flag football game. Former NFL stars, City Commissioners, local media personalities and other community leaders will take the field at 7 p.m.

The football/cheer camp will begin at 9:30 a.m. and take place at Spring Sax Park, 1000 Springsax Drive. The flag football game will take place at Messer Park North.

Registration will take place on-site the day of the clinic at Springsax Park starting at 8:30 a.m. Registration forms can be downloaded at www.talgov.com/parks/ytackfootball.cfm.
