VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - A litter of newborn puppies are struggling to survive, after being found abandoned at a park in Thomasville. They have been placed in foster care, but at just days old, their chances of survival are slim.
Early Friday, the animals were found scattered at Cherokee Lake Park in Thomasville. Their eyes were closed and they couldn't walk yet. Officials tell me they were noticed because lawn care staff was getting ready to cut the grass. Estimated to be just days old, they were taken to the South Georgia Low Cost Spay and Neuter Clinic to be warmed and receive bottle feeding.
Only 4 of the 10 puppies remain. One of the puppies died within 24 hours, and the 9 others were sent to the Pixel group, a non profit organization, dedicated to fostering and rescuing animals for adoption. 6 of them were placed in valdosta through the fund, and the rest were sent to Orlando.
Michelle Williams, a volunteer with the Pixel Fund, says the two puppies are getting stronger everyday, "they will be up for adoption as soon as they get old enough and hopefully they will be happy and healthy pets in their forever home."
