TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - Florida State University Schools now have a resource to better protect students around campus from the sun.

The Victor Over Cancer Foundation unveiled 10 sunscreen dispensers on the school's campus Wednesday.

They are hoping the new resource will help students protect their skin from sun damage, especially melanoma.

Samantha Strickland, the founder of the Victor Over Cancer Foundation lost her brother to melanoma two years ago. That's when she created the foundation. Now, Strickland says she is turning her grief into something positive. She says, "The students on that campus, K-12, will have access to free sunblock every time they go outside for sports activities or to play on the play ground and really start those healthy skin habits at a young age, so that they have a much better chance to avoid melanoma or skin cancer in the future."

Close to 100 students were at the unveiling on Wednesday where the school's marching band performed with the flag corps. Strickland also had the chance to share her story about her brother with the students.

The Director of Florida State University Schools is a survivor of skin cancer, and is also a dermatologist.
