TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- Governor Rick Scott says teen crime is decreasing in the state.
According to Governor Scott, juvenile arrests dropped 8% in 2013-2014, allowing for a five year decline of 36% in juvenile delinquency.
This is all according to a report by the Florida Department of Juvenile Delinquency.
Scott says the decline is in nearly every juvenile offense category, and is proof that the Juvenile Delinquency Department's reform initiatives are working.
They began a multi-year reform initiative two years ago called "Road-map to System Excellence."
Florida has the nation's largest centrally organized juvenile justice agency, providing prevention, probation, detention and residential services for at-risk and delinquent youth
