TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - A local group has released a proposal on how they say Tallahassee and Leon County can address sexual violence in the area.

The Commission on the Status of Women and Girls (CSWG) released the Report on Sexual Violence Response in Tallahassee/Leon County after a 13-month look at the topic.

The report recommends that leaders, "create an inter-agency tracking system of sexual violence cases, increase capacity for investigations via additional law enforcement personnel with specialized training in sexual assault response, and implement a community-wide bystander intervention program."

"When I assumed the position as Tallahassee Chief of Police, one of my first priorities was to ensure that all of TPD's policies were functioning at a level consistent with best practices of the law enforcement community. TPD worked with community organizations to adopt a new policy on sexual assault investigations, implemented required sexual assault training for all of our sworn officers, and created an informational guide specifically for victims of sexual assault. TPD will continue to strive to ensure we provide the highest level of services we can to victims and we welcome the opportunity to work collaboratively with our community partners," said Tallahassee Police Chief Michael J. DeLeo.

The report in its entirety can be found at www.TallahasseeLeonCSWG.com.

In addition, the new location of the Refuge House SANE Facility was unveiled at at 1221 Hodges Drive, by Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.
