QUITMAN, GA (WTXL) -- A national poultry company is adding its newest location in Quitman.

Aviagen will create 100 jobs and invest about $18 million with a new parent stock hatchery.

This will be the company's second hatchery of its kind in Georgia, covering 250 acres at the Brooks County Industrial Park off Madison Highway and Prospect Drive.

The Brooks County Development Authority says the investment will increase the county's "tax digest" and energize the local economy.

"We have over 4,000 people that leave our community every day to go to their primary workplace -- and so, just a little along, we are going to start getting those jobs back," said director Tiffany Holmes. "We've worked very hard for this for a long time, so it is good news for Brooks County."

The 65,000-square foot facility is scheduled to be completed in 2018.
