TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Some students at FSU now have a unique opportunity to learn about their careers in a real world setting.
The opportunity is all thanks to a new partnership between the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce and the new Jim Moran School of Entrepreneurship aimed at helping students thrive.
This school was founded in December if 2015 with the help of a $100 million gift from the Moran family.
Out of 160 applicants, only 80 students were chosen to be a part of this program's first year. The chamber of commerce has given these students two year chamber memberships to more easily connect with local business leaders.
"They will be able to be mentored through their two years in the program," said Susan Fiorito, who is the director of the school. "They're going to be working with chamber members in a mentoring situation. We're very appreciative and very pleased for our students and for the Chamber."
Beginning next Fall, those who are already in the program will be paired with mentors who will offer advice and help the students secure internships.
Incoming freshmen will also be able to declare an entrepreneurship major starting next fall.
